Guess what all the fuss is about? Well, a new episode in StepShot’s life begins today – and we couldn’t be more excited about it! We’re happy to announce not only a release of another version but more: we’re moving in a new direction – RPA (Robotic Process Automation). But, shhh! One step at a time – let me first introduce these changes in the right order, considering the previous and next episodes, and then discuss the future of StepShot and its customers.
We’ve been working hard to keep our customers satisfied and be useful to those who still aren’t aware of the benefits of StepShot Guides. About a half a year ago, we announced StepShot’s Biggest Update Ever and launched StepShot Guides PRO. The app introduced long-awaited solutions like Cloud workspace, simplified customization of PDF templates, exports to Word and HTML, improved capturing, automatic generation of step descriptions, export to video with an auto-narration option, in-built OCR, and more. Owing to the support of our dedicated customers, we have developed a powerful tool which has resulted not only in an increase in the number of StepShot users, but also public recognition – StepShot Guides PRO became the #1 Product of the Day at Product Hunt and a High Performer of Spring 2019 at G2 Crowd.
As we’re so grateful for your support, our team is continuing to improve StepShot Guides for you. To cut a long story short, let’s get straight to the point:
This feature is probably the most desired one right now – Branding Wizard indeed allows you to feel like a wizard – you can customize your company branding once and use it in all your following guides. Here, you can add your company logo, select brand colors & fonts, and also configure sets of repetitive variables in a much more convenient way. What’s more, you can upload your own fonts to make sure all text fields on your documents and guides match your corporate branding. As a result, in a few simple steps, you can apply the branding to all new documents and make use of variables to provide standard info like company info, document version, author, etc.
Diagrams for captured processes is another feature you’ve been waiting for. Diagrams are extremely useful in presenting process components and workflows visually, hence in a way that is much easier to understand. You can automatically build a process diagram based either on headings (high-level diagram) or on a combination of headings and step titles (low-level diagram). If needed, you can edit the diagram or draw it from scratch manually – using text boxes, arrows and a set of shapes including rectangles, diamonds (for branching), and ellipses.
Integration with Atlassian Products
Among all the integrations and exporting options StepShot offers, now its users have the possibility to export all guides created with StepShot directly to their Atlassian Confluence instance. There are four default templates and you can design more, so you can easily create and publish guides and similar documentation to a knowledge base at Confluence. To get more info and start your free 30-day trial, visit Atlassian Marketplace. If you’re an active Atlassian products user, check out other StepShot add-ons.
Multiple step selection
One more improvement to make the user experience better – now, our users can select several steps as objects to different actions. In particular, you can choose the steps you want to delete, copy, save as images, or use as a basis for a process diagram. All you need to do is to hold down the control button (Ctrl on Windows) or command button (⌘ on Mac) while selecting all needed steps.
New Product Announcement: StepShot for RPA
For whom? The tool is designed for RPA Business Analysts and related RPA professionals
What is it? StepShot for RPA is a quick solution to the creation of the process design documents (PDDs) and immediate design of a fully working robot prototype without coding (automatically based on a PDD). As a result, you get the ROI from automation much sooner, as you invest less time and money usually spent on the manual preparation of PDDs, robot requirements, and first prototypes.
How does it work? With this tool, process discovery becomes much faster and easier:
- Automatically capture the process you would like to automate while gathering detailed statistics for each process including the number of applications, windows, steps, clicks, key pressed, text entries, hotkeys, and execution time.
- Get a ready-made PDD with the process description, statistics, and diagram. Make use of the export to Word and in-built PDD template and share it with other stakeholders.
- Choose the optimal way of process execution according to the provided PDD data. Owing to the collected statistics, it becomes much more obvious which way of process execution is better for automation.
- Export the captured process to UiPath (you can use its Free Community Edition) and get a fully-featured robot prototype straightaway, so that you can test it to make sure automation will be successful or make necessary changes before investing in the actual robot development.
While we still support all our current customers and products, we want to grow and enter new markets. Recently, we’ve understood that a tool like StepShot can be extremely useful for those who plan to implement RPA solutions for business process improvement. In fact, it can be used for process discovery as one of the prerequisites for RPA implementation (read more here). Obviously, we still need to work hard to improve the current software, make sure to meet all customer needs, and make RPA fast and simple. As a preview, we can tell you that the next episode will be mostly directed towards robotic automation. Stay with us to see some magic and if you’re one of those who cannot help waiting, book a free demo and learn more about StepShot for RPA.
